Coastal Camping at Sea Barn Farm
Sea Barn Farm is a gem of a campsite - tucked away at the end of Dorset's winding roads, nestled by the Jurassic Coast with views that command your full attention, there could be no better campsite if you are looking for a seaside break. The campsite cleverly manages to maintain a feeling of privacy and seclusion through it's segregated pitches -you can have sunrise views from the entrance side of the campsite, sunset views from the far end (we picked this one) and if you prefer to be elevated and surrounded by trees in your own enclosure -well, you can have that too.
With a new shower block that boasts the 'best campsite facilities ever' according to my husband, there is no slumming it here. Whilst you can't access the beach directly from the campsite (you can access the lagoon) - Chesil Beach is only a few miles away, and what a beach it is!
It may be May, but as we all know the rain has not let up for weeks - but on this occasion, as soon as we set foot on the beach the skies cleared, the sun shone, and the setting was perfect for a dip in the sea (warning, this is not for the faint hearted!).
We were camping with a group of friends, we had children but the rest did not, but Sea Barn Farm offers something for everyone - the kids spent hours kite flying to the East side of the campsite on the 'Farm Walk', the grown ups spent hours chatting and enjoying the views with chilled wine, and we all slept well listening to the pitter patter of rain on our tents.
For a weekend break or a month, this is the perfect get away, and after chatting to some of the regulars there, it seems that even in peak season the campsite manages to retain a sense of peace and tranquility.
We will definitely be going back there, I actually think that I could live there quite happily for months on end!
